Summer School ScholarshipsThe Summer Schools for dancers and musicians take place from mid-July to mid-August at St Andrews. You can register for one or more weeks. This is a great opportunity dance with people from around the world. The best Scottish dance musicians play for all classes and dances. There are dance classes, optional walk-throughs in the afternoon and evening dances and ceilidhs. Spring Fling ScholarshipsBrighton Branch offers scholarships for dancers aged between 16 and 35 to attend the RSCDS Spring Fling. Starting with a ceilidh on Friday evening, then country dance classes for different abilities on Saturday and Sunday morning, an optional Highland classes and a Scottish ball on Saturday evening. We sponsored Mahalia to join the Spring Fling at Cambridge in 2004 and here you can see Mahalia's report and photos. As there were no young people applying after 2007, we agreed at the branch AGM in 2016 to use the Pat Harvey Scholarship Fund to sponsor a class for teachers. Since then we have sponsored many classes and you will find classes listed on our Events pages. The annual Spring Fling came to Brighton in 2025 and we were proud to support the main events and to run a Saturday afternoon workshop taught by Mervyn Short. At the time of writing, HQ web site hosts photos of Brighton Spring Fling 2025 online. |
