Weekly Scottish Country Dance Classes


Weekly Scottish country dance classes for adults and children. Learn to "dance Scottish" with qualified teachers at RSCDS Brighton in Brighton. All are welcome.

* No class on Good Friday, as our hall is closed.

Friday country dance classes at Patcham

Patcham Memorial Hall Our term-time weekly dance classes are held at Patcham Memorial Hall in the Old London Road, Patcham BN1 8XR, which is conveniently near the A23/A27 junction at the edge of Brighton and Hove, Sussex.
Bus 5A stops right outside (stop "Audrey Close"), bus 5 stops ten minutes' walk away (stop "Carden Avenue East") and buses 17, 272 and 273 stop nearby at stop "". These buses come from the town centre, stopping near 3 train stations: Preston Park (walk 6 mins), London Road (walk 9 mins) and Brighton (walk 10 mins). We advise finding Patcham Memorial Hall in Google Maps and tapping on "Drections" and the bus symbbol, changing Leave at to "Arrive at" 19:30.
  • 7:30pm to 9pm - for beginners and the less confident dancers - the class may start with lessons in Scottish dance technique and formations and include dances.
    Children aged 10-16 are welcome, accompanied by an adult who will dance with you as your partner.

  • 9pm to 10pm - after a short tea break we will study more complex dance formations, techniques and dances suitable for more experienced dancers.

Fees

£5 per evening for RSCDS members*, children under 16 and 16-25s in full-time education. You can pay termly in advance to get 15% off this price (to the nearest 50p).

£5 per evening for adult non-members.

* RSCDS Brighton Branch annual membership costs £30, which pays for membership of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS). To become a member, download and print the New Members' Form. Membership is open to anyone in Sussex, Brighton and Hove, Surrey, London or anywhere else.
